Final Blog (Entry 11)

Dear future student,
Blogging may sound a little bit cliche or kinda weird at first, but its not as bad as it seems. Blogging is used for people that want to share their thoughts with the world or perhaps gain other ideas. It can be used to inform, share, or simply help. Personally, I like blogging because I was able to share some ideas with my peers and not be judged. The people that view blogs most of the time are those that have their own. At first, I didn't like the whole idea of blogging because I am not one to share my thoughts with people I don't know. Truthfully, you have to be willing to step out your comfort zone and be different. There are many benefits to blogging that may go unnoticed. One benefit of blogging is casting your ideas. You may not think that is important, or you might think its "gay" but honestly there is people that are interested in your thoughts such as myself. Combining ideas and sharing them with other wonderful people is truly a great thing. The challenges of blogging can vary. One challenge may be just being uncomfortable to share your thoughts about a subject or coming up with something interesting to talk about. Another challenge may be just time management. Look at blogging kinda like a scrap book. In the moment you may not really see the purpose of it, but at the end you'll look back at it and admire it, and so will others. Blogging changed my idea on assignment and technology because it amazing to see how technology and social media can bring the world together in a marvelous ways, but it has also made me realize that you can have fun with assignments and use it to your advantage because at the end of the day, becoming more educated in any type of way is a great thing. Overall I think blogging is a wonderful thing that I will try to make time for in the future, it will be tough with such a busy schedule. But as I grow old and grow eager to help others I will always reflect on how it can help someone or keep you in touch with others. Trust me, blogging isn't as bad as it seems.

Loving unconditionally can be very difficult at times. Especially when it may not be given back to you. Sometimes your patient love can be all that one needs to make a complete turn around. Most of all, remain your self. Enjoy the little things around you and watch how luxirious they may turn out to be. And sometimes you'll realize everything you have been missing out on. Alot of us have someone that loves unconditionally whether that be a parent, loved one, or a best friend. When you truly love someone you will do anything to see them happy and accept them for who they are, Be there for them.  Continue to love those unconditionally and continue to forgive. Gods grace will bless those who are patient in understanding his purpose for us all.

Your unconditional love is always noticed by the man upstairs, and will be noticed soon by someone that needs us, as much as we need them.

Media Synthesize (Entry 9)

Since we begun talking about the power of media I am more critical of what I hear and see. It is so unfortunate that the media likes to bow everything out of proportion and that most Americans will believe everything they hear or see. And sadly, we don't know what is the truth we just have to take everything in account and base the truth off if evidence and facts. I am beginning to realize the word choice that the media uses, such as big dramatic words such as "Death Toll" a phrase that I can not stand makes things seem so horrific. Before the class had begun I have been staying off social media simply because I believe it corrupts your mind. Subconsciously, you will begin to develop these thoughts or trends into your daily lives if you see them enough. Therefore, I went ahead and deleted my Twitter account due to the disgusting images or things people would say. I was tired of it! Not only that but I found my self swiping away and not using my time wisely when I can be doing something productively or more meaningful to my life.

Social Media can be harmful and in fact be an addiction if you let it. Yes, it may be entertaining to show off your new outfit or cast your ludicrous thoughts, but is it really worth it?

Kobe Bryant recently announced this will be his final year playing. As we near the retirement of one of the greatest players ever, Kobe Bryant. I thought it would be important that you are informed with his insane work ethic and some of the stories that many had said about him.

My favorite story that I heard is the one about calling his trainer. He called his trainer at 3:45 in the morning to see if he could work him out. When he got there he said that Kobe was already drenched in sweat and it wasn't even 5 in the morning. First of all, lets be honest when was the last time that you woke up at 5 for any reason. Then he said that he left and Kobe was still working on his craft. Then we came back for the Team USA practice (at about 11) Kobe had not stopped working and was barely finishing the routine he had started when his trainer left! Nearly 8 hours and practice had not begun yet. That is flat out ridiculous. I admire that story so much

He went on to speak how Kobe had hit a game winner against Spain to win the Gold Medal, coincidence?

People tend to think that the greatest players don't put the work in. Kobe moved in silence and did not boast about the work that he put in, he spoke with results. Whether you respect him or not. You have to respect his work ethic, and still at 38 years old hes doing it better than some rookies. As we near retirement of possibly the second best shooting guard ever (Behind Michael Jordan) we should reflect on all the memories and great stories about possibly the greatest Laker ever.

Dumb Men (Entry 7)

The purpose of the Dumb Men website is simply to inform the public (generally middle aged people or men) on the constant bashing on males and how we display this image of all men being somewhat dumb. All though it is pretty fun it is a bit odd how they attract males or the family household by displaying these images of men being either difficult or flat out dumb in today's society. We also get this image that women are most of the time smarter than men or in power of the husband.

My favorite commercial or most interesting one was the one of the man thinking back to the women he impregnated in Cancun back in his prime years. Oddly enough we come to find out he is a preist now and once he took a sip of this oh so mind enhancing drink he realizes she was talking about one of his students. Yet, we still get this image of men being idiotic. It seems that the audience is the average male who needs that extra boost in their day.

Extra Credit Entry

Michael Moores Capatilism film definitely opened my eyes a little bit. Its sad that the ones that are in power have no remorse for the middle class, and truly can care less about them.
Then again it is easy to criticize moore and other commercial successful artist because they are hypocritical at some level. Especially moore, being a profound director, has earned some decent money off several films. So it may simply be appealing that he looks like the average guy wearing average clothes. At times the movie is emotional and a little raw but it is the hard truth. But you also cant let the emotions and lack of interviewing those in charge sway you. Yes we may be middle class as well, but most of us want to be rich too. We don't know the other half of the story. Regardless of the fact, the government and head honchos of these big companies can care less about the middle class.

Should college athletes be paid? As basketball season nears, The Final Four of both the Women's and Men's NCAA basketball tournaments will garner the collective attention of sports fans across the country. Brackets will be busted, nets will be cut down, and two champions will ultimately be crowned.But while those teams are celebrating a national title, the real winners of the tournaments may be their corporate sponsors, broadcasters and ultimately, the NCAA itself.The NCAA basketball tournaments, or "March Madness," have become a huge business and my personal favorite.  As Forbes' Chris Smith wrote, CBS and Turner Broadcasting make more than $1 billion off the games, Athletic conferences receive millions of dollars in payouts from the NCAA when their teams advance deep into the tournament. Ditto for the coaches of the final squads standing. The NCAA, as a whole, makes about 6 billion anually. every time that they step onto the court, field, or whatever they are playing they are at risk. just a few months ago, Louisville's Kevin Ware suffered a gruesome broken leg The huge amount of money being made off college sports has led some to question whether student-athletes can be considered amateurs any longer, and whether they should, instead, be paid for their efforts. The New York Times' Joe Nocera has been pursuing this act to reform the NCAA, and he is certainly not alone. A group of former players has filed an antitrust lawsuit alleging that student athletes are entitled to some of the money the NCAA makes off of using their names and likenesses on merchandise such as jerseys and video games.But on the flip side, the argument can be made that the opportunity to both receive an education and get the exposure to win a major professional contract more than compensates NCAA athletes for their efforts. Maybe we just need to push athletes closer to academics and reinstate the purpose of them being at the university.  

Local Story Respond (Entry 5)

I think its great that ASU is offering more short classes. Simply because some students can move faster than others, Or they can manage their schedule better. Not all students like the shorter classes but some do, I believe it just depends on the individual. I think the main reason why it would be beneficial is because it will lower cost for students. But from what it seems like, it looks like their are still questions about the change. And it seems like the faculty wasn't really informed a lot about the idea. I believe ASU may want to touch base with the staff in order for both students and staff to be on the same page. Personally, I love the shortened classes because you will get done faster or even if you want to lighten your load towards the end of the semester.

Puerto Rico is a place everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. It is so rich in culture that you will leave the island in awe. I visit the island quite often due to nearly all my family living there. And every time it never fails to amaze me. There are so many things to do! One of my favorite things to do is to visit the beach, The crystal clear water that refreshing almost as a bath is so amazing. Here is a picture of one if the many beaches, it is called loquioo. The beach is like a ginormous party. You will see tons of people laughing, drinking their tropical drinks such as pina coloda with a little bit of malibu, food, and music. Its such a great time!

After the beach you might want to check out the historical "El Morro" This used to be a fort for the Colombians when they took over the island. They used to use this to fight any incoming boats or others that wanted the island, because the island used to be filled with Gold. Yes, Christopher Columbus was a money scheming man who Puerto Ricans hated tremendously. Now they use the fort as a museum and a is a place where many tourist visit, it is located in San Juan, right when when you get off the plane.

Another popular spot where many tourist visit is what we call "Viejo San Juan" or Old San Juan. It is the first town in Puerto Rico. It is filled with culture. The roads are layerd with bricks

and the buildings are painted with offset colors. You will find many of shops here to satisfy your needs or most importantly plenty of restaurants and bars.

Puerto Rico is a place filled with happy people and a good time! It is definitely a place you need to check out!

Slanted Reporting Quest (Entry 3)

We constantly see slanted reporting in the media such as the news, here is a video of the new being biased towards the campaign.

As you can see the news is completely biased towards the others that are running for president as well. They don't even mention Ron Paul who is still in the race. To me, it seems like they put the others that are not even competing with Mitt Ronmey. But Ron Paul who is probably the closest competition towards Ronmey, is yet to be mentioned. It makes me immediately question the intention of Fox News and whose side they are on? It also makes me wonder if the perhaps they have a deal with the campaign crew of Ronmey, as odd as that sounds! Today, we see tons of money being used towards the media to make them seem like the perfect person for the job, or make the other competitors seem like they are evil. They constantly talk crap about the other person simply to sway the voters. We see slanted writing/coverage every where today, its our choice to choose which to believe and which is true.

Hello classmates my name is Jose Bustamante. I am a basketball player here at GCC and I love playing video games or going on adventures in the outdoors with my friends. The reason I am attending GCC is because I would like to obtain a bachelors degree. I enjoy spending time with family. I have two younger siblings that I absolutely adore. My little brother is six years old and my little sister is 3, crazy right? My mother sure did start all over again. By the way I am 20 years old. Yes I know we have a large age gap. But the way I look at it, I am guiding them as a vital male figure in their life, which I am supposed to do. I hope to get to know all of you soon!
